When come to Rome and what to do for your holiday with a minimum budget
Could to seem impossible but it’s true: you can travel even at low prices, you just know how to move!
First you choose a low season, you can find solutions in B&B also at 50€ per night if you plan your vacation in Rome in months like November, January (after holidays) in February or August.
Take care choosing a central solution, the district of St. Peter’s Basilica is the most suitable and allows you to find the right comfort facilities in average price such as in Lilly’s House B&B.
The same goes for the restaurants in the neighborhood: you can taste the typical Roman cuisine and fine wine at cheap prices, my advice is to enjoy a dinner at Gallo Brillo, where you can enjoy the great classics of Roman cuisine as amatriciana, carbonara, cheese and pepper, good wine in a young and friendly at a price more than fair.
Removing the cost of bed and breakfast and dinner, what’s left of your budget you can invest it for two lunches that will be needed.
Buy water is really an unnecessary expense, equip yourself with the bottle that will fill in the famous fountains, named also Nasoni, spread around the town. For lunch you can go to Ovens, the most famous are in the historical center, but also the district of St. Peter’s Basilica boasts names such as Colapicchioni and Bakery Moscow. Stock up the famous white Roman Pizza, if you want stuffing it with some bagged. With a few Euros you ensure a tasty typically Roman lunch.
The first day after the arrival in your b&b you can dedicate to the visit of the most famous squares of Rome, you can follow the old town all on foot and the great masterpieces that Rome offers free to its citizens and tourists from all over the world: Caravaggio’s paintings in San Luigi dei Francesi, Santa Maria del Popolo and the Basilica of St. Augustine (all downtown) Michelangelo’s Moses in San Pietro in Vincoli, are some of the masterpieces that you can see for free while walking between Piazza Navona, the Pantheon , Trevi Fountain and Piazza di Spagna. You should remain at your disposal a few Euros you can spend the second day of the holiday, to visit the Coliseum complete with a guide (ticket + reservation fee + guide single € 19) before returning home.
I just have to wish you bon voyage! Rome awaits you!
