Exhibit of Castel Sant’Angelo – “The Popes of hope: Art and Religion of seventeenth century in Rome”
The current exhibition of Castel Sant’Angelo is dedicated to the Popes that in seventeenth century have made Rome the capital of the Christian world through the propagation of works of art.
In fact, is in that period that the art began to be seen as a useful vehicle for spreading the Christian religion.
All the great artists of the time were in Rome to embellish it with paintings and sculptures, we can still admire.
Many of these works are now on display, such as Caravaggio, Bernini, Pietro da Cortona and many others.
The Museum of Castel Sant’Angelo is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 09am to 7pm
The exhibition will remain open until 11 January 2015.
