Just few days to the “scariest” evening of the year,…
As is known, on December 8, 2015, with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, will begin the special Jubilee which ends November 20, 2016.
The Holy Doors are opened only during the Jubilees.
In Rome will be open as first St. Peter, and the other three major basilicas: St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major and St. Paul Outside the Walls.
Pope Francis will open and he will cross as first the Holy Door at St. Peter’s on the opening day of the Jubilee and then he’ll do the same with the doors of the three other Basilicas.
Two other signs of the Jubilee is the indulgence and making an action that of mercy and compassion penance.
An action of “mercy” is to make a pilgrimage to a shrine or place of Jubilee that for the believer evokes the personal journey in the footsteps of the Redeemer.
In the Holy Year the principal places of pilgrimage are then the four major Basilicas of Rome (St. Peter, St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major and St. Paul Outside the Walls) where you can get indulgence and therefore receive a large number of visitors.
In the map below you can see the location of the four basilicas viewing even how to get there from anywhere in Rome
On the new site of Bed and Breakfast Roma Service, there are many B&B in Rome located near the four Basilicas in the Vatican area, San Giovanni, Santa Maria Maggiore and San Paolo.
